About KANAREK
Founded by artist Yael Kanarek in New York City, KANAREK creates fine jewelry inspired by language. Drawing from Jewish textual traditions, contemporary art, and typographic design, the studio transforms words into sculptural forms crafted in gold, silver, diamonds, and precious stones.
Central to the work is the original Hebrew typeface Gufanit, developed by Kanarek specifically for jewelry. Its bold geometric structure allows Hebrew letters to function simultaneously as language, image, and object. Through this approach, names, blessings, verses, and personal texts become intimate works of wearable art.
The collections include Hebrew name necklaces, Jewish wedding jewelry, custom inscriptions, and contemporary interpretations of sacred and literary texts. Each piece is designed and produced with close attention to typography, proportion, and craftsmanship.
KANAREK's work extends a long Jewish tradition of honoring words as vessels of meaning while bringing that tradition into contemporary life through jewelry that is personal, expressive, and enduring.
